Accessibility Statement
This website saveourstories.co.uk is run by Blackpool Council’s Arts Service. We are committed to making our website as accessible and usable as possible in accordance with The Public Sector Bodies (Website and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 No.952.
We last tested for accessibility on 28th August 2020.
We are actively working to improve the accessibility and usability of our website and aim to meet AA standard of the WCAG 2.1 guidelines as a minimum.
For example that means you should be able to:
- Change colours, contrast levels and fonts via browser or plug in
- Zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen
- Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- Listen to most of the website using a screen reader
- We have made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
Our site works best on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and other browsers. If you do not have the latest version we recommend upgrading.

Alt-tags
Where images are displayed on our site we use alternative text (alt-tags) to describe the content.
PDFs and non-HTML documents
We are committed to uploading fully accessible non-HTML documents to our website.
How accessible is this website
We know some parts of this website aren’t fully accessible:
- You tube links to videos that we upload do not have an obvious play button.
- We may sometimes use SoundCloud to give you a wider engagement experience and there is not an obvious play button.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We are committed to inclusive design for anything we produce for digital engagement and we are committed to testing our new designs and produce with a diverse range of audiences. To do this, we will work with local, regional and national arts sector organisations such as Disability First, SHAPE and Venture Arts, to keep appraised of best practice understand how improvements to our services can be made and implemented.
