It’s been a busy summer for SOS…

In May, June and July we were proud to be a part of the Blackpool Heritage Service’s Marvels and Mayhem Schools Project.

The children who took part enjoyed learning about the amazing Blackpool Tower Circus Collection and exploring the wonderful stories they hold. Our Storyteller Emily Hennessey and Artists Tina Dempsey and Garth Gratrix valued their time spent with Blackpool and Wyre schools immensely. As a celebration of the project they created a wonderful exhibition of the children’s artwork and stories, housed in a spectacular Big Top for Wordpool’s Most Marvelous Family Day on July 6^th in Stanley Park. We hope that you were able to come along.

Leading up to Christmas we’ll be creating a resource pack for schools to help them access the Blackpool Tower Circus Historic Collection.

The intention of the Marvels and Mayhem: The Blackpool Tower Circus Project is to enhance understanding and knowledge of the Blackpool Tower Circus Collection, using the appeal of the circus and its amazing stories to develop a variety of engagement opportunities in health, social care and education. The project is managed by the Heritage Service and funded through the Esmee Fairbairn Collections Fund, run by the Museums Association.
