Doing Something Booky for World Book Day

Celebrating World Book Day with Blackpool Libraries
POSTED IN Children,
Blackpool Central Library, Queen Street, Blackpool, United Kingdom

This year we celebrated World Book Day in style, doing lots of booky things with four Blackpool Libraries and local school children.

The RescueShip was joined by our storytelling Crew Member, Louise. Louise’s storytelling session was based on Nick Walker’s original Save Our Stories book. She explored all the different ways stories could be saved and the importance stories hold in our lives. The children were asked to imagine a world without stories, and how terrible that world would be. The children then got to explore the RescueShip and find out how it saves stories.

Our day started off at Moor Park Library, when crew member Louise met with Year 2’s from St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School.

The RescueShip and Louise then sailed off to Layton Library where they met a Year 3 class from Layton Primary School.

The mission continued on into the afternoon when we arrived at Blackpool Central Library to save stories with a Year 2 class from St John’s C of E Primary School.

We finished our mission at Palatine Library. We were helped by some Year 2 & 3 StorySavers from Roseacre Primary Academy.
